Dodecatheon meadia Jumalatelill

This delightful wildflower is native to hills, meadows and woodland areas along the coast of central to southern California.
Closely related to Primroses and Cyclamen, Shooting Star prefers rich, slightly moist compost in partial shade to full sun. Once established, Shooting Star will eventually form large colonies, making it a great choice for naturalizing.
A field of Shooting Stars is an amazing and unforgettable sight. Grows 5" to 16" tall.
Blooms early spring (Feb - Apr) and sometimes as early as December. Several flowers will appear in umbrels atop the main stems. Goes dormant in Summer. Not to be overlooked, Shooting Star deserves to be included in more home gardens!

Pride of Ohio, American cowslip, shooting-star, Sierra Shooting Star. Bot. syn.: Dodecatheon pauciflorum.
